Broxtowe Creates Festival – June 2024

Summer might still feel a long way off, but in case you hadn’t heard, we have something rather brilliant to look forward to in Broxtowe as we transition into British summertime.
With events from the first to the last day of June, this Arts Council Funded festival will feature a multicultural mix of art, film and live performances from a diverse range of musicians and actors. There will also be opportunities for Broxtonians to get involved via a writing competition for children and by creating something for art exhibition – submissions will be accepted from artists of all ages.

Full details and updates can be found on the website

Broxtowe Creates Festival – June 2024

“Get ready to dive into a whirlwind of culture”

But the current line-up looks like this

  • Performing Arts: An hour long theatrical performance, using creative writing and performance-based workshops to amplify and empower marginalised voices and under-represented members of the community.
  • Film: A mini film festival featuring the winners from April’s Beeston Film Festival, and other arthouse film screenings.
  • Literature: Awards and exhibition for the annual D.H. Lawrence Children’s Writing Competition.
  • Music: Pop-up classical, jazz and contemporary musical performances in indoor & outdoor spaces across Broxtowe by professional, amateur and youth musicians, plus an afternoon of live music by local performers on an outdoor stage as part of the Kimberley Jam.
  • Visual Arts: Art workshops and an open to all art competition resulting in a physical and online exhibition during June.

Entries for the children’s writing competition need to be in by Friday 10th May and the art competition deadline is Friday 31st May.

“Go on, show off your creative side!”
